On April 26, 2023, Hon. Ibrahim Matola spoke at the 9th edition of energy and mining conference, which took place in Maputo, Mozambique alongside his counterpart Hon. Monica Chang’anamuno, Minister of Mining for Mozambique.
In his presentation, he emphasized on the challenges facing the energy sector in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region and Malawi in particular and what can be done to solve them.
SADC region, and Malawi in particular, is blessed with abundant energy resources, but unfortunately, energy access and affordability are still major challenges for millions of people in the region and Malawi in particular.
“I believe that by working together through collaboration and partnership, we can overcome these challenges and build a more sustainable and secure energy future for all of our citizens” said Matola during his presentation. “We can do so by sharing knowledge, best practices, and resources. Partnership between governments and the private sector, is also essential for creating the right regulatory and investment environment for energy security” he added.
Collaboration is critical to driving innovation and progress in the energy sector. By working together, companies, governments, and other stakeholders can develop new technologies, reduce costs, and create a more sustainable energy future.
